Residents also rejected proposals to loosen residency rules for the city manager and city attorney, while Orange Park voters returned Doug Benefield to its Town Council.

2. Clay County under countywide burn ban (actionnewsjax.com) — If you live just outside Green Cove Springs city limits, a new Clay County burn ban now prohibits outdoor burning in unincorporated areas because of extreme drought and wildfire risk. Campfires, fire pits, and yard debris burning are off-limits, though outdoor grilling is still allowed. The ban will stay in place until enough rain arrives, and violations can bring fines and criminal charges.
