📰 News we're reading

1. Residents Question Matanzas Golf Course Development on Protected Tract (flaglerlive.com) — Palm Coast neighbors are gearing up to fight a revived plan to build 39 homes on Tract 3 of the Matanzas golf course, a strip they believed would stay a protected viewshed. After a chaotic neighborhood meeting, residents are preparing for a key May 20 Planning Board hearing that will decide whether those homes move from Tract 8 and reshape their fairway views.

2. Flagler School Board Cool to YMCA Pool Collaboration Plans (flaglerlive.com) — Palm Coast’s hoped-for partnership with Flagler Schools on the future YMCA Olympic pool is on shaky ground as several board members now favor building a separate district pool instead. At the same time, the board is weighing a below-appraisal offer for its vacant Corporate Drive land in Palm Coast, debating whether any sale should fund a pool partnership or other pressing school projects.

3. Fake Florida nurse who treated nearly 4,500 patients gets sweetheart deal; judge reportedly asserts she 'excelled at her job' (theblaze.com) — A Palm Coast woman who worked at AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway without a valid nursing license received probation instead of jail after treating thousands of patients, according to court records and law enforcement. Investigators say she used another nurse’s license information, prompting criticism from the sheriff and questions about hospital hiring safeguards that matter directly to local patients and families.

4. New York Woman Arrested in Flagler County Credit Card Fraud Investigation (observerlocalnews.com) — Flagler deputies say a Palm Coast resident’s credit card information was stolen and used for multiple purchases in Jacksonville, leading to an arrest warrant for a New York woman. Investigators tracked the suspect through surveillance video, a white Lexus SUV, and cooperation with Jacksonville police, and the sheriff urges locals to closely monitor their credit card statements.
