NJ Burrito Chain Expands In Tampa Bay Area (patch.com) — Tampa Bay diners have a new fast-casual option as Bubbakoo's Burritos opens a locally owned Wesley Chapel location, adding to its Zephyrhills and other Florida sites. The chain, which offers customizable Mexican-fusion dishes and a new fall menu, is celebrating with a free-burritos-for-a-year promotion for the first qualifying customers.
   

2. Teen Arrested In Fatal Dick's House Of Sport Shooting: Hillsborough Sheriff (patch.com) — Hillsborough County deputies have arrested a 16-year-old in connection with the July shooting death of 15-year-old Jaden Law inside Dick's House of Sport at Brandon Exchange, a busy shopping destination for Tampa-area residents. After months of investigation, including surveillance review and ballistic testing on a recovered firearm, prosecutors approved a manslaughter with a weapon charge.
   

3. 'Cherry-picking': $75M ZooTampa deal sparks Hillsborough fight over cultural funding (floridapolitics.com) — Hillsborough County commissioners advanced a proposed 15-year, $75 million partnership with ZooTampa, while delaying any clear process for funding several other major Tampa cultural institutions seeking about $90 million combined. The debate centers on how to fairly share limited Community Investment Tax dollars among attractions like the Florida Aquarium, Straz Center, and Tampa Theatre, with a final ZooTampa vote expected in October.
   

4. Plane made steep turn immediately after takeoff in fatal Tampa Executive Airport crash (mysuncoast.com) — Federal investigators say a small experimental plane made a steep 180-degree left turn shortly after taking off from Tampa Executive Airport on Sept. 3 before crashing into a nearby wooded area, killing both people aboard. The preliminary NTSB report notes the aircraft lifted off mid-runway, then banked sharply and descended nose-first, with the cause of the Tampa-area crash still under investigation.
   

5. Tampa Bay schools receive grant-funded art supplies from Gasparilla Arts (fox13news.com) — Twenty Hillsborough County schools, including many serving Tampa students, are receiving $2,200 each in fresh art supplies through Gasparilla Arts' new "Making Space to Create" program, funded by Community Foundation Tampa Bay. Teachers say the materials replace worn-out tools, ease tight classroom budgets, and give students better opportunities to explore drawing, painting, and other creative projects during National Arts in Education Week.
