Here are the top three stories in Cartersville today:

  1. For the third time in as many years, a rezoning request is before the Bartow County Planning Commission. Georgia Stone Products, LLC wants to have property near Highway 140 in Adairsville rezoned to open a limestone quarry. In 2021 and 2022, the rezoning request was withdrawn before it could be heard by Bartow County Commissioner Steve Taylor. "The upcoming hearing is slated for 6 p.m. on April 24 at the Frank Moore Administration and Judicial Center, at 135 West Cherokee Ave. in Cartersville." (Subscription: The Daily Tribune News)
  2. Lori Rakes became the then named Cartersville Medical Center's COO fourteen years ago. This month, she has been promoted as Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center's new CEO. "The position was previously filled by Chris Mosley, whose CEO tenure spanned from 2018 until early 2023." (Subscription: The Daily Tribune News)
  3. The Peach Cobbler Factory's Cartersville storefront has opened. Located at 233 Marketplace Blvd, alongside Wal-Mart and Lowe's, hours will be 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily. "the shop offers peach and 11 other favors of cobbler as well as puddings, shakes and cookies." (Northwest Georgia News)
