GA Beauty School To Permanently Close After Losing Accreditation (patch.com) — Students and staff in Conyers are facing the permanent closure of Georgia Career Institute on Flat Shoals Road after the school lost its accreditation over financial resource concerns. Classes will continue through Oct. 1 while grades are finalized, and GCI is coordinating with nearby beauty schools so local students can transfer and finish their training. The institute says its top priority is supporting students through the transition and teach-out options.

Update: Life flighted victim from Monday's crash in Walton County dies as a result of her injuries (monroelocal.org) — A 41-year-old Conyers woman, Alicia Brown, has died from injuries suffered in a serious two-vehicle crash Monday in Walton County, where she was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital. Georgia State Patrol says charges are pending against the other driver, while several additional people were treated for injuries from this and a separate crash later that afternoon.
