• Newton BOC OKs changes to landfill permit (covnews.com) — Porterdale households will see their trash and landfill needs covered for at least the next decade after Newton County approved major changes to the landfill permit and an updated Solid Waste Management Plan backed by Porterdale and nearby cities. The revisions increase landfill capacity, move operations farther from the Yellow River, add composting, and are projected to cut construction costs by about $3 million.
