Their project explores whether the body's DNA-repair systems could help protect astronauts from deep-space radiation, putting Cumming students' work on the map in a highly competitive national field.
   

• 2 men sentenced in multi-state Walmart theft of more than $300K in merchandise (11alive.com) — Two men have been sentenced for a multi-state Walmart theft ring that also hit the Cumming store, where part of roughly $15,000 in Georgia merchandise was stolen. Investigators tied them to dozens of incidents across 11 states, and both now face long prison terms and restitution orders after years of targeting electronics hidden inside other retail packaging.
