• Beverly Scott (921wlhr.com) — Hartwell friends and neighbors are mourning the passing of 86-year-old Beverly Ann Brown Scott, with family receiving visitors Saturday afternoon at Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. A private graveside service will follow in Canon, and memorials may be made to Gideons International Hart County Camp or First Baptist Church of Hartwell. Online condolences are being accepted.
   

• HCHS Students Earn College Board National Recognition and AP Scholar Honors (921wlhr.com) — Hart County High School students from the Hartwell area are being recognized nationally for standout performance in Advanced Placement courses and college-readiness exams. Fifty-five students earned College Board National Recognition or AP Scholar honors, highlighting strong academics, first-generation achievements, and success in rural and small-town education. • North Georgia Tech Announces Honor Roll, President's List Students for Summer Semester (921wlhr.com) — North Georgia Technical College has named its Summer 2026 Honor Roll and President’s List students, including Hartwell’s own Brian Vang, a Networking Specialist major with a perfect 4.0 GPA. The announcement also highlights Hart County’s Stephanie Rayton and several Franklin County students. Full-time enrollment and strong grades were required for these academic distinctions.
