• Moultrie city budget: Lower property tax, higher service fees (moultrieobserver.com) — Moultrie residents will see a sharply lower city property tax rate this year, but many will pay more for garbage and sewer service starting Oct. 1. The new $59.7 million city budget cuts the millage to 6.071, while raising solid waste fees for extra containers and increasing minimum sewer charges, especially for heavy water users inside and outside city limits.
   

• Colquitt softball team drops DH to Lowndes (moultrieobserver.com) — Moultrie’s Colquitt County Lady Packers softball team struggled at home Friday, dropping both games of a Region 1-7A doubleheader to Lowndes at Packer Park. Despite strong hitting from several players, defensive lapses led to losses of 13-7 and 11-3, leaving Colquitt 4-13 overall as they prepare for upcoming matchups with Valdosta and Cook.
