📰 News we're reading
• 'Our next 10' -Tucker City Council plots new course (decaturish.com) — Tucker's City Council has voted unanimously to end major administrative contracts and begin bringing more city services in-house starting in January, marking a shift from "startup" city to long-term planning. Leaders say the change is about better control over infrastructure, trails, and future growth, while reassuring residents that the move is a planned evolution, not a response to any crisis.
• Groundbreaking ceremony takes place for new fire station (thechampionnewspaper.com) — DeKalb County is moving ahead with three new fire stations, including Fire Station No. 5 in Tucker, funded through SPLOST sales tax revenue. The modern facilities are designed to improve emergency response and firefighter safety with upgraded layouts, gender-inclusive spaces, and community rooms, promising stronger fire protection for Tucker and nearby neighborhoods over the next several years.
