Mother injured in Houston County Kroger accidental shooting describes chaotic scene, fear for safety (13wmaz.com) — A Warner Robins-area family’s grocery trip turned frightening when a gun accidentally discharged inside the Highway 96 Kroger, injuring four shoppers with fragments, including a mother and her young daughter. Warner Robins Police say the gun went off in a customer’s pocket, and one victim required surgery, while others were treated and released as the investigation continues.

3. More than $100M investment aims to fast-track Central Georgia students into healthcare careers (13wmaz.com) — A major $100 million-plus investment is bringing a new STEM and Allied Health Academy to Houston County, giving Warner Robins–area high schoolers a fast track into medical careers. Starting in fall 2026, students can dual enroll with Central Georgia Technical College, earning college credits and healthcare credentials before graduation, with full academy facilities expected to open in 2027.

Two Warner Robins men sentenced in Middle Georgia drug trafficking case (41nbc.com) — Two Warner Robins men have been sentenced to long prison terms and heavy fines for running a large drug trafficking operation that funneled cocaine, meth, and other narcotics into Houston County and Middle Georgia. Local and regional agencies spent months investigating the organization, ultimately arresting 17 people and seizing trafficking quantities of drugs from multiple residences tied to the ring.

Perry native Sonny Perdue announces retirement as University System of Georgia chancellor (13wmaz.com) — Warner Robins–area residents may recognize Sonny Perdue, the Perry-born, Bonaire-based former Warner Robins High quarterback, who is retiring as chancellor of the University System of Georgia. His four-decade career spanned local Houston County boards, the governor’s office, and a cabinet role in Washington before returning home to lead Georgia’s public colleges.
