Car Crash Preceded Fatal Metra Train Collision In Barrington: Coroner (patch.com) — Barrington police say a three-vehicle crash left one car stuck on the railroad tracks at Route 14 and Hart Road, where it was then hit by a Metra train. The driver, a 77-year-old Carpentersville man, later died from blunt-force injuries at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital. Barrington Police are handling the roadway crash investigation, while Metra Police are examining the train collision.

Sex Assault, Strangulation Charges: Lake County Arrests (patch.com) — A 62-year-old resident of unincorporated Barrington is among several people recently arrested in Lake County, facing a domestic battery charge and an October court date.
