Child Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries In E-Bike Crash Near Crystal Lake
The child was taken by ambulance to a McHenry hospital following the collision near Walkup and Dvorak roads.
CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A minor suffered life-threatening injuries Wednesday afternoon after an e-bike and a vehicle collided near Crystal Lake, authorities said.
The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department responded around 1 p.m. to the intersection of Walkup and Dvorak roads for the reported crash. Firefighters and paramedics arrived within four minutes and found the injured e-bike rider in the roadway, according to a news release.
A LifeNet medical helicopter was requested because of the severity of the injuries, but the child was instead taken by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital after the helicopter's estimated arrival time was deemed too long.

The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department treated the patient and secured the scene before turning the investigation over to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities have not released additional information, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
