Proposal Delayed In Downers Grove (patch.com) — Downers Grove officials have postponed a decision on a proposed Dutch Bros. drive-thru and retail project at Ogden and Saratoga, citing unresolved traffic and safety concerns near Herrick Middle School and Downers Grove North. Residents continue to oppose the plan over car stacking and pedestrian risks, while some commissioners say they might support it if conditions are met before the Sept. 8 vote.
   

• Tornado sirens sound in false alarm across Chicago suburbs overnight (fox32chicago.com) — If tornado sirens jolted you awake in Downers Grove around 3 a.m. Tuesday, officials say it was a false alarm triggered during a DuPage Public Safety Communications system test. There was never a severe weather threat, but the incident raised questions across social media as residents from Downers Grove to Wheaton reported hearing the unexpected warning.
   

• Downers Grove tied for 128th among Illinois cities for scam reports in July (dupagepolicyjournal.com) — Downers Grove logged just one scam report with the Better Business Bureau in July 2026, down from three in June, involving a $23 online purchase that never arrived. The BBB urges residents to use its Scam Tracker tool to research suspicious offers, as fraud losses continue to climb sharply across Illinois and the nation.
