• Elgin planning roundabout at Larkin Avenue and Airlite Street (chicagotribune.com) — Elgin is moving ahead with plans to replace the Larkin Avenue and South Airlite Street intersection with a roundabout, aiming to cut long waits and simplify traffic patterns by 2030. City council has approved first-phase engineering, while two other roundabouts—at Route 20/Reinking Road and at Highland and North Lyle—are in progress or scheduled, meaning drivers can expect changing traffic patterns over the next few years.
   

• Carpentersville's 2nd recreational pot dispensary to offer drive-thru (chicagotribune.com) — Residents near Elgin may soon see a new drive-thru cannabis dispensary opening on Randall Road in Carpentersville, which will serve both recreational and medical customers. Village officials say their first dispensary has brought in strong tax revenue, and they're now planning limits on how many shops can open along major corridors to avoid oversaturation.
   

• Illinois solar project adapts layout to train tracks, wetland and existing power lines (solarpowerworldonline.com) — A new community solar project on a 22-acre farm in Elgin is now generating power, bringing tax revenue, construction jobs, and long-term bill savings to local households, schools, and nonprofits. Backed by state clean-energy programs, the Bowes Solar project will support Elgin Community College, Food for Greater Elgin, and other groups while cutting ComEd supply charges for hundreds of low- and moderate-income subscribers.
