McDonald's Calls Joliet Police To Arrest 'Unwanted' Woman On West Jefferson Street: Cops

JOLIET, IL — One of the busiest restaurants in all of Joliet, the McDonald's at 1515 West Jefferson Street, has taken major efforts in recent years to kick out the transients who are causing mischief inside or outside their property. The latest such incident happened on Sunday morning resulting in the Joliet Police Department's arrest of 48-year-old Sabrina Liggins, who Joliet police say is homeless.

According to police spokesman Dwayne English, at 10:05 a.m., the officers responded to the McDonald’s at 1515 West Jefferson Street for an unwanted person at the restaurant.

He said the officers encountered the 48-year-old homeless woman inside the restaurant after she had reportedly been asked by management to leave the property.

English said the officers instructed Liggins to leave, but she allegedly refused to comply and became confrontational.

During the interaction, Liggins allegedly raised a closed fist in a threatening manner toward two officers, English said.

She was subsequently placed into custody. After being secured in handcuffs, Liggins allegedly attempted to kick officers but did not make contact, English advised.

Liggins was charged with two counts of aggravated assault of a peace officer and one count of criminal trespass. Officers also determined that Liggins had an active Will County arrest warrant for failing to appear in court on previous charges of obstructing identification.

Liggins was ultimately transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility for her outstanding warrant.
