VA to host Veterans Resource Fair in Bowling Green (va.gov) — Bowling Green veterans and their families can connect with VA benefits and health care enrollment at a free Veterans Resource Fair on Sept. 9 at WKU's Knicely Conference Center. From 4–7 p.m., attendees can learn about the PACT Act, caregiver and community care programs, meet Kentucky VA partners, and hear from VA leadership during a 4:30 p.m. speaking session.
   

2. Dorothy Elizabeth England Gray, Bowling Green (wcluradio.com) — Bowling Green residents are mourning the passing of 91-year-old Dorothy Elizabeth England Gray, who died Sunday at her family's home in town. A devoted Democrat and community-minded matriarch with deep Monroe and Allen County roots, she leaves a large family across Bowling Green and the region. Visitation and funeral services are set for Friday at Goad Funeral Home, with memorial donations encouraged to Hosparus Health Barren River or the Kentucky Democratic Party.
   

3. WBKO earns multiple nominations in 2026 Kentucky Broadcasters Association Awards (wbko.com) — Bowling Green's WBKO is racking up statewide recognition, earning multiple nominations in the 2026 Kentucky Broadcasters Association Excellence in Broadcasting Awards. Local journalist Adam Ferguson, account executive Erin Barber, and creative producer McKayla Cash are all finalists for their work spotlighting Southcentral Kentucky stories and locally produced commercials. Winners will be announced October 25 at the KBA conference in Louisville.
   

4. Goodwill Kentucky celebrates latest skilled trades graduates in Bowling Green (wbko.com) — Goodwill Kentucky has just graduated a new class from its free Construction and Skilled Trades Pathway program held at the Bowling Green Opportunity Center, giving residents OSHA-10 or Procore credentials plus direct interviews with local employers. The six-day course, backed by UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Kentucky, is designed to quickly move people— including those rebuilding after incarceration— into stable construction jobs with companies like Reynolds Sealing & Striping and Stewart Richey.
   

5. Local woman turns 100, honored by Barren River Area Development District (wnky.com) — A Bowling Green resident, Freda Finkbone, has just been honored by the Barren River Area Development District for reaching 100 years old. The eastern Kentucky native, now calling Bowling Green home, received a special centenarian plaque and shared that prayer and perseverance helped her through hard times, creating a full-circle moment for BRADD staff who once honored her late husband.
