1. Project to re-number I-265 in Louisville, southern Indiana starting next week (whas11.com) — Drivers around Louisville should prepare for a major renumbering of I-265 starting Monday, as state and federal agencies work to create a continuous loop and more logical exit sequence through Louisville and southern Indiana. Portions of KY 841 will be redesignated as I-265, exits will be renumbered from the Ohio River to Dixie Highway, and the work is expected to last through summer 2027. 
2. New records show JCPS saves $8.7 million after cutting teacher stipends at 20 schools (wdrb.com) — Louisville teachers and families should know JCPS has cut a key stipend at 20 high-need schools, saving the district $8.7 million but sharply reducing extra pay for affected educators. District leaders say they're enforcing an existing rule tied to state performance labels, while teachers and their union dispute the change and how late it was communicated.
3. Louisville Metro Council approves new restrictions on liquor store locations (wlky.com) — Louisville Metro Council has approved new rules limiting where package liquor stores can open, adding 1,000-foot buffers from schools, parks, churches, libraries and other liquor stores. Supporters say the change aims to reduce heavy clustering in underserved neighborhoods and address safety, loitering and crime concerns, while allowing exemptions for large grocery stores in food desert areas.
4. Second human case of West Nile virus confirmed in Jefferson County as infected mosquitoes spread to more neighborhoods (wave3.com) — A second person in Jefferson County has tested positive for West Nile virus as infected mosquitoes are now being found in more Louisville neighborhoods, including Old Louisville, Portland, Shawnee and parts of Shively. Health officials are fogging affected areas and urging residents to use repellent, wear long sleeves, clear standing water and watch for symptoms, especially older adults and those with weaker immune systems.
5. American Legion members help clean up historic Louisville cemetery (wdrb.com) — American Legion members spent Saturday cleaning up Greenwood Cemetery in Louisville, honoring more than 800 African American veterans buried there. Volunteers cleared overgrown areas, learned about the cemetery's history, and hope their work inspires more Louisville residents to help maintain this important historic site that relies heavily on community support.
