1. Iconic downtown Louisville live music venue listed for sale

A landmark downtown Louisville music venue, the Mercury Ballroom in the historic Wright-Taylor Building on South Fourth Street, has been listed for sale at $4.5 million. The building remains under a long-term lease with Live Nation, so shows and events should continue while a new owner is sought for this nationally recognized entertainment landmark. 2. West Louisville traffic changes aim to reduce speeding, improve safety

Drivers in west Louisville will soon see major changes as Muhammad Ali Boulevard, Chestnut Street and River Park Drive convert from one-way to two-way traffic between Ninth Street and Southwestern Parkway starting next Wednesday. City officials say the shift aims to slow speeding and reduce crashes, especially in the Russell neighborhood, though longtime residents and business owners expect a challenging adjustment period before work wraps up before winter. 3. Metro Council considers changes to massage facility ordinance after therapist pushback

Louisville massage clients and therapists could soon see changes as Metro Council considers easing parts of a 2025 ordinance that added cameras and unlocked-door rules to fight human trafficking. After months of pushback, proposed amendments would remove camera requirements and give multi-therapist offices more flexibility to lock doors during sessions, while still aiming to deter illicit businesses. A key committee will debate the changes on Oct. 7. (wave3.com)

4. 'This is not normal': Commonwealth attorney comments on rise of open cases involving youth

Louisville's Commonwealth's Attorney reports about a 30% jump in open youth-related cases compared with last year, even as youth homicides and non-fatal shooting victim numbers have fallen. Local prosecutors are turning to PSAs, podcasts, and closer work with JCPS and other agencies, stressing that prevention and community collaboration are essential to protect young people and reduce violence. 5. Oldham County Schools considers lawsuit against social media platforms

Oldham County Schools, just outside Louisville, is weighing a lawsuit against major social media companies over their alleged impact on students' mental health and learning.
