• Most Blessed Sacrament School's Seidon Shaffer recognized by Junior Achievement (thedialog.org) — A Berlin middle-schooler, Most Blessed Sacrament student Seidon Shaffer, has been named to Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore’s 2026 “18 Under 18” list for his leadership, service, and academic achievements. From 4-H public speaking and agricultural projects to volunteer work with Operation We Care and Habitat for Humanity, his efforts will be celebrated at a public awards ceremony May 18 in Salisbury.
   

• Spring Ridge Student Among Winners In Maryland 'If I Were Mayor' Essay Contest (thebaynet.com) — A Worcester Preparatory School student from Berlin is among just 11 fourth-graders statewide honored in Maryland’s “If I Were Mayor” essay contest, celebrating the Maryland Municipal League’s 90th anniversary. The winners were recognized in Annapolis for creative visions of how tradition and innovation could shape their hometowns 90 years from now, with state and municipal leaders applauding their ideas and education.
   

• Daniel Edward Barnhart - Worcester County News Bayside Gazette (baysideoc.net) — Berlin residents are mourning the passing of 66-year-old Daniel Edward Barnhart, a local business owner who ran DJ Lawncare and worked at Oceans East Apartments. His family, including relatives in Berlin, invite friends to a May 9 memorial service in Ocean City and a July celebration of life in Pennsylvania, and suggest memorial donations to Hope Lodge or St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
