Business owners worry about costs, safety, and where private dumpsters would go, so the mayor asked them to propose solutions before the council revisits the issue in July.

Inspired by their daughter’s care and a nearly empty toy cabinet, they rallied community donations to comfort young patients facing emergency visits and hospital stays.

Four Maryland hospitals among 500 flagged nationwide for not disclosing basic price information (wbal.com) — Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin is among four Maryland hospitals flagged by federal regulators for not fully disclosing basic price information, and must now submit a pricing plan. Noncompliance could bring penalties of up to $2 million a year, putting added pressure on the local hospital to improve price transparency for patients.
   

5. David Alan Epstein (jewishtimes.com) — Berlin residents are mourning the passing of 83-year-old David Alan Epstein, a longtime husband, father, and grandfather remembered for his devotion to family. Services will be held Sunday, June 14, at Bestgate Memorial Park in Annapolis, with donations suggested to Carnegie Science’s Earth and Planets Laboratory in honor of his love of space.
