• Actress takes on bisexual 'Ma' Rainey in new Round House production (washingtonblade.com) — Bethesda theatergoers can catch a new production of August Wilson's "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" at Round House Theatre on East-West Highway, running September 9 through October 11. The show centers on blues legend Ma Rainey, portrayed as a powerful, openly bisexual artist, and features actor Nicole Michelle Haskins in her Round House debut under director Lili-Anne Brown.

• Raskin, Van Grack, others join rally Friday in D.C. to 'Free Davey Hearn' (bethesdamagazine.com) — A Bethesda resident and former Olympic canoeist, Davey Hearn, is fighting to have vandalism charges over Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool damage dismissed with prejudice, arguing the case was politically driven and factually weak. Supporters, including Rep. Jamie Raskin and Rockville Councilmember Adam Van Grack, rallied outside a D.C. courthouse Friday as a judge weighed whether prosecutors can refile the case later.
