‘Real Housewives Of Potomac’ Star Details Time In Jail In First Interview: Report
The RHOP star spoke about her stint at a Montgomery County jail after being convicted on charges including driving under the influence.
POTOMAC, MD — Karen Huger, a popular cast member on Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Potomac” reality TV show, gave a detailed account Sunday of her six-month stint at the Montgomery County Detention Center in Boyds for a drunk driving crash, according to The Banner.
Among the many revelations of the interview, Huger told show host Andy Cohen she refused to be kept away from the detention center’s general population and instead embraced the situation, opting to try and help her fellow inmates.
“They did a wonderful job trying to keep me out of general population,” she told Cohen. “And I told them, ‘Look, if God has me in here, I’ve got to learn a lesson. So put me in general population.’ I felt that there was a need there to help the others that were in there. Because there were children there that were my children’s age.”

The Sunday interview aired as part of the Season 10 RHOP finale. Huger did not appear for the latest season as she was serving her jail sentence.
Although Huger was sentenced to two years in jail for driving under the influence, she had one year suspended and was eventually released in September 2025, just six months into her sentencing.
The case dates back to March 19, 2024, when Huger was driving a 2017 Maserati that crossed a median and crashed into traffic signs at the intersection of Oaklyn Drive and Beman Woods Way in Potomac, WTOP reported, citing court records. She was not seriously hurt.
She was found guilty in late December 2024 of DUI, negligent driving, failure to control speed to avoid a collision and failure to notify of address change, the Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office said. The jury acquitted Huger of a reckless driving charge.
Huger, often called the Grande Dame of Potomac, entered a treatment facility in January for “taking antidepressants and drinking,” according to a short video message that was played for her castmates, The New York Times reported.
