• Bowie woman's last-minute lottery stop produces two $50K winning tickets (shorenewsnetwork.com) — A Bowie woman recently turned two identical $1 Pick 5 bets into a combined $100,000 Maryland Lottery win after buying tickets while running errands with her sister. She purchased the lucky tickets at Ardwick Liquors in nearby Landover and later discovered both had hit while waiting in a car, and she plans to use the windfall for bills and home repairs. 
• Maryland Nurse Pleads Guilty to Health Care Fraud Conspiracy for Role in $14 Million D.C. Medicaid Scheme (justice.gov) — A registered nurse from Bowie has pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiring in a $14 million scheme that fraudulently billed D.C. Medicaid for mental health services that were never properly provided. Prosecutors say her role alone cost Medicaid more than $550,000, and she now faces up to 10 years in prison, fines, and restitution when sentenced.
