Semi Driver Extricated, Traffic Backed Up Due To Crash

A semi driver had to be extricated after the semi crashed Thursday morning, causing a backup of traffic for at least two miles

LAUREL, MD — All lanes of I-95 northbound were blocked late Thursday morning, as was the I-95 northbound left lane at MD-198 due to a massive crash near Laurel.

The delay had traffic backed up for at least two miles, which officials stated on social media was caused by a tractor-trailer that had overturned with the driver trapped inside.

Maryland DOT traffic cameras showed a large response from emergency responders, including police, fire crews and tow trucks, and their traffic monitoring website showed lanes remained closed for some time after the crash.
