Events Assistant (rutgers.edu) — The City of College Park is hiring contract Events Assistants to help run popular local celebrations like College Park Day, Friday Night Live, and Winter Wonderland throughout the year. Positions pay $18–$22 per hour, average 5–10 hours monthly, and require nights and weekends plus light lifting and local driving to distribute materials. Students and residents can apply by emailing a resume to events@collegeparkmd.gov.
   

2. Maryland Prepares To Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Night With 'Los Terps' Football Helmets - University of Maryland Athletics (umterps.com) — College Park will host a high‑energy Hispanic Heritage Night at SECU Stadium on Sept. 19, featuring special "Los Terps" helmets, giveaways, and Hispanic music and dance performances. Players and alumni say the primetime matchup with Virginia Tech is a chance for the city's and DMV's Hispanic communities to see their culture celebrated front and center on Maryland's home field.
   

3. The Week in Winners: $60,000 prize and 11 wins of $50,000 highlight Maryland Lottery's week (nottinghammd.com) — A College Park Dash-In on Baltimore Avenue sold a $10,000-winning Platinum Payout scratch-off ticket in the latest round of Maryland Lottery prizes. The weekly report highlights big wins statewide, including a $60,000 scratch-off in Parkville and multiple $50,000 Pick 5 and Bonus Match 5 tickets sold across Maryland. Several of the larger prizes remain unclaimed.
   

4. International Student Rule Already Spurring Disenrollments (insidehighered.com) — Staff at the University of Maryland, College Park warn that new federal limits on international student stays could restrict first‑year students from changing majors and hurt UMD's ability to attract global talent. Colleges nationwide report early enrollment drops, financial strain, and heavier advising workloads as they challenge the rule in court before it takes effect next month.
