Rabid Fox Attacks Man, 2 Dogs: Police

The public is being urged to stay on alert after Rockville City Police said a rabid fox attacked a man and two dogs.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Residents are being urged by police to remain cautious when outdoors after a man and two dogs were attacked by a rabid fox.

The Rockville City Police Department said Saturday that officials were alerted to two incidents that occurred "in and around the Potomac Woods and Horizon Hills neighborhoods."

The fox is said to have attacked a man and his dog in one incident, with another separate event involving another dog in the area.

Officials are advising the public to remain aware of their surroundings and to either keep pets indoors or keep a close eye on them while outdoors.

Contact with any wild animals that appear to be aggressive or sick should be avoided at all costs. Anyone who sees the fox or another animal acting strangely should contact the department at (240) 314-8900.
