• Silver Spring woman sentenced in crash that killed 85-year-old (wtop.com) — A Silver Spring woman has been sentenced after driving more than twice the speed limit and causing a crash near Randolph Road and Sherwood Forest Drive that fatally injured an 85-year-old passenger. She received a 20-year sentence with all but one year suspended, plus five years of supervised probation, following her guilty plea to vehicular manslaughter and second-degree assault.
