Fatal Boston Shooting Under Investigation

BOSTON, MA — A man was killed in a shooting inside a Hyde Park business Saturday afternoon, according to the Boston Police Department.

Michael Lorenus, 37, of Milton, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds after officers responded at approximately 1:09 p.m. to a business near 54 Walter St. for a report of a person shot.

Boston EMS responded to the scene and pronounced Lorenus dead. No arrests have been announced in connection with the shooting.

The investigation extended into the area of the nearby Fairmount commuter rail tracks, prompting service disruptions Saturday afternoon. Fairmount Line trains temporarily terminated at Four Corners/Geneva, while Franklin Line trains operated without stops between Newmarket and Fairmount.

Police also searched along the tracks following the shooting after two people were reportedly seen running from the area. A gun magazine was recovered near the Fairmount Avenue bridge during the investigation.

The Boston Police Department's Homicide Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Police have not released additional information about what led to the incident.
