📰 News we're reading

• Beyond the Badge: how Westford's police leaders see a changing role for local policing (westfordcat.org) — Westford's police chief and deputy chief describe how the department is shifting from a strictly enforcement-focused role to a more collaborative, service-oriented approach with schools, health officials, and other town departments. For residents, that means more emphasis on mental-health response, traffic safety, youth programs, and everyday problem-solving that aims to build relationships before crises occur.

• From students to teachers: Westford Academy teens pass Chinese dance to the next generation (westfordcat.org) — Westford Academy students are stepping into teaching roles, leading Chinese folk dance classes for younger children and representing Westford at cultural festivals across Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Their performances at Westford's Lunar New Year celebration and other regional events are helping strengthen local connections, build confidence in younger dancers, and keep Chinese cultural traditions thriving in a diverse community.
