Person Injured, 7 Cats Killed In Worcester House Fire: Reports
The fire was one of two that broke out within about a half an hour in the city, according to reports.
WORCESTER, MA — One person was injured and seven cats died in one of two house fires that broke out in Worcester on Friday night, according to multiple reports citing officials.
The first fire started shortly after 11:10 p.m. at a multi-story home at 540 Main St., WCVB reported. No injuries were reported.
Around 11:45 p.m., fire crews were called to a second fire in a building on Main Street, located by Federal Street near City Hall, according to an NBC Boston report. When fire crews arrived at the second blaze, they found heavy flames coming from three sides of the structure, reports said.

One person was rescued from the home and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Their current condition is unknown.
Reports said officials found 14 cats inside the second home, seven of which died.

The causes of both fires remain under investigation.
