Detroit startups are turning to Ilitch School students to solve problems, and they're delivering results (wayne.edu) — Detroit startups are teaming up with Wayne State's Mike Ilitch School of Business students, who provide free consulting on finance, marketing, and operations through the Warrior Consulting Group. The program connects students with hubs like Newlab, TechTown, and Detroit-founded companies, helping local ventures grow while giving students internships, job offers, and hands-on experience in the city's entrepreneurial ecosystem.
   

2. Former Vice President Kamala Harris campaigns with Abdul El-Sayed in Detroit (komonews.com) — Kamala Harris visited Detroit for a roundtable on Black maternal health, campaigning alongside Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed as his race against Republican Mike Rogers intensifies. The event highlighted El-Sayed's support for Medicare for All and maternal health initiatives, while Rogers criticized the visit and tied Harris to economic concerns important to Michigan voters.
   

3. Chris Hansen has yet to see 'Primetime,' which is based on him (detroitnews.com) — Metro Detroit–raised journalist Chris Hansen, best known for "To Catch a Predator," is reacting warily to a new film, "Primetime," loosely based on his work that he wasn't allowed to see in advance. He recalls growing up in Bloomfield Township, launching his career at Detroit TV stations, and now splitting time between West Bloomfield, New York and Cleveland while building new projects that keep his Detroit ties front and center.
   

4. Ransomware Hits a Major US Law Firm as a Critical pfSense Flaw Turns One DNS Request Into Root Access + Video (undercodenews.com) — A Detroit-headquartered law firm, Clark Hill, has been listed by a ransomware group as a victim in an incident that reportedly disrupted some services, though the full scope of any data exposure remains unconfirmed. The same day, researchers detailed a serious pfSense firewall vulnerability that could grant root access via a crafted DNS request, underscoring why Detroit organizations must urgently patch edge devices and treat ransomware claims as warnings requiring verification.
   

5. Oak Park teacher driving for Uber to make extra cash killed by DUI teen driver (scallywagandvagabond.com) — A Detroit math teacher who worked at Oak Park High School and drove for Uber to earn extra money was killed when a teen allegedly drove drunk and ran a red light in nearby Oak Park. Police say the 19-year-old driver's blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit, and he now faces charges with a high bond set in Oakland County.
