Stormy Week With Heat Indices Touching 100 Degrees: Metro Detroit Weather

There are multiple chances for showers and storms this week with heat indices climbing toward triple digits across the Detroit area, according to the National Weather Service.

Highs will reach the upper 80s Monday before the first chance for storms moves into the region during the overnight hours, according to NWS.

A stronger chance for thunderstorms comes during the afternoon hours Tuesday when highs again reach the upper 80s.

Forecasters warned heavy downpours are possible with some areas receiving more than 1 inch of rainfall per hour.

Wednesday and Thursday will be the hottest days of the week with highs climbing into the 90s and heat indices touching 100 degrees in some areas, according to NWS.

Showers and thunderstorms are possible both days with the increasing humidity, according to NWS.

Sunny skies will return to the area Friday and into the weekend with highs hovering around 90 degrees, according to NWS.
