National Folk Festival unveils Mississippi music, food and arts lineup (clarionledger.com) — Downtown Jackson will host the National Folk Festival November 13–15, spotlighting Mississippi food, music, and traditions just minutes from your doorstep. Expect Jackson artists, Big Apple Inn's pig ear sandwiches, college tailgate recreations, and hands-on demonstrations from cooks and craftspeople across the state, all celebrating Mississippi's role in American culture.
   

2. Jackson Nonprofit Aims to 'Activate' Downtown Spaces Through Public Art (mississippifreepress.org) — A new mural on an Episcopal church wall is part of a broader push by Downtown Jackson Partners to revitalize downtown Jackson with public art and more inviting outdoor spaces. Local leaders hope these projects will boost quality of life, draw more people to eat, walk, and gather downtown, and showcase Jackson's own artists, history, and culture.
   

3. South Jackson neighbors celebrate new resilience hub at former school (wapt.com) — South Jackson neighbors are celebrating the reopening of the long-closed Marshall Elementary as a new Resilience Hub and Opportunity Center. Led by nonprofit One Voice, the project already includes renovated community spaces and a workforce kitchen, with future plans for a clinic and emergency shelter to give South Jackson residents vital services close to home.
   

4. Another broken fire hydrant wastes water in Jackson (wapt.com) — A broken fire hydrant near a Shell station on Wiggins Road poured water for more than an hour Tuesday, just a day after another leaking hydrant on South Roach Street flooded nearby Jackson streets and hurt a local business. JXN Water urges residents who spot running hydrants anywhere in Jackson to call the utility so crews can respond quickly.
   

5. 'Gibbs on the Ground' brings fresh produce to North Jackson families (wapt.com) — Families in North Jackson are getting bags of fresh produce delivered directly to their homes through State Rep. Justis Gibbs' new "Gibbs on the Ground" initiative. Partnering with Dash Food Market, the effort targets food insecurity now while Gibbs also pushes legislation to better track and address food access problems statewide, including support for local student-athletes.
