Widdershins means “counter-clockwise, anti-clockwise, or lefthandwise.”

The term also describes the dance of witches around a fire or cauldron, or a bunch of divorcees around one of their ex-husbands. Contrarywise or left-handed made the term a more than curious way to describe the political left, and with the rise of the AWFLs, there you go.
