Montclair Explores Possibility Of Local Shuttle Bus, Town Meeting Planned (patch.com) — Montclair officials are asking residents whether the town should launch a local shuttle bus, with a public meeting set for Sept. 30 at Town Hall. A special Shuttle Bus Subcommittee will present its interim findings, share concepts based on a town-wide survey, and gather feedback that will shape recommendations to the Township Council.
   

2. Urban Natural Will Hold Grand Opening In Montclair For New Showroom (patch.com) — Urban Natural is opening a new flagship showroom at 1 Lackawanna Plaza, bringing a larger, 10,000-square-foot space and expanded selection to Montclair shoppers. Residents are invited to a Sept. 24 evening grand opening with live music, refreshments, and a $1,000 gift card giveaway. The store will showcase sustainable furniture, organic sleep products, and a curated gift shop from popular brands.
   

3. Fall Activities At Van Vleck House & Gardens In Montclair: 2026 Events (patch.com) — Families in Montclair can look forward to a full slate of children's and family programs at Van Vleck House & Gardens this fall, from Nature Explorers and Tales on the Trails to Garden to Table cooking classes. The historic estate will also host family yoga, an annual sensory celebration, Scout Day, and multi-day Santa visits, all aimed at learning and connection in the gardens. Registration details are available through The Montclair Foundation.
   

4. Montclair launches opioid response street team (dailydispatch.com) — Montclair has launched a new Opioid Response Street Team that will proactively connect residents struggling with addiction to care before, during, and after overdoses. Run by the Montclair Health Department, Montclair Ambulance Unit, and Essex Health & Wellness Recovery Center, the program uses state opioid settlement funds to reach unhoused and opioid-using neighbors directly on local streets.
   

5. A First Day of School for Montclair's Newest Students (montclairlocal.news) — Families in Montclair just dropped off 154 preschoolers for the first day at the new Montclair Early Learning Academy, now housed in the former Renaissance Middle School. Backed by $6.44 million in state preschool aid, the program centralizes pre-K in one building as the district tackles a major budget deficit and reshapes its school lineup.
