• Ocean City Fire Department Sets Open House (patch.com) — Ocean City families can get an inside look at their local fire department during a free open house on Oct. 8 at the Asbury Avenue station. Residents will see live fire safety demonstrations, a helicopter landing and an Atlantic City Electric demo, while kids enjoy face-painting and refreshments. The event highlights Fire Prevention Month and offers practical safety education tailored to the Ocean City community.
   

• Cape May County launches 'Know Your Zone' hurricane evacuation program (ocnjdaily.com) — Ocean City residents are urged to learn their new Cape May County hurricane evacuation zone as part of the county's "Know Your Zone" program, which uses four lettered zones to guide storm evacuations. Officials stress planning an out-of-county destination now, since access to traditional public shelters may be limited and leaving early is critical before roads flood or causeways close.
