Engine Fire Forces Passengers Off NJ Transit Train In Bergen County
A train engine caught on fire in Bergen County on Tuesday night.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Customers were forced to change NJ Transit trains in Bergen County on Tuesday night after an engine caught fire, a spokesperson said.
Firefighters responded to a fire on the underside of the engine of Pascack Valley Line train 1643 on Tuesday around 8:55 p.m., a transit spokesman said.
The fire was discovered near Essex Street Station in Hackensack.

A total of 110 customers and crew were on board, but no one was injured, the agency said.
The fire was extinguished and passengers transferred to another train.
