NMDOT to keep traffic moving safely on I-25 construction during Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta (krqe.com) — If you're heading to Balloon Fiesta from AlbuquerqueDOT says all three I-25 lanes will stay open in both directions between Comanche and Montgomery, though traffic is shifted to the outside lanes. Drivers should expect lane reductions at Comanche and Montgomery, heavier congestion, a 55 mph work-zone speed limit, and are urged to allow extra travel time.
   

2. District Attorney weighing charges against second driver in viral Albuquerque road rage (abqjournal.com subscription) — A high-profile road rage crash in Northeast Albuquerque is now under review by the 2nd Judicial District Attorney, which is weighing possible charges against the male driver seen ramming an SUV in a viral video. The other driver, Jenipher Lewis, remains jailed on child abuse and other charges as an appeals court orders a closer look at her pretrial detention.
   

3. Man Charged With DWI Vehicular Homicide After Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Albuquerque (news-usa.today) — A 61-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run on East Central in Albuquerque, and police say the driver, now charged with DWI vehicular homicide, only returned after his parents urged him to. The crash highlights a worsening safety crisis on Central Avenue, which has seen at least 44 pedestrian deaths since 2018 and ranks among the nation's deadliest corridors.
   

4. Temporary Seasonal Hiring Begins for Winter (usda.gov) — Cibola National Forest and National Grasslands, based in the Albuquerque area, is hiring temporary seasonal workers for winter, with applications open through October 5. Positions include recreation and archeology roles on the Mount Taylor and Sandia ranger districts, offering local residents paid work maintaining trails, campgrounds, and public lands close to home.
   

5. Isleta Resort & Casino celebrates 40th anniversary (kob.com) — Isleta Resort & Casino just marked 40 years of growth from a tent bingo hall into a major Albuquerque-area resort that supports Pueblo of Isleta families. Interim CEO Calvin Jiron reflects on surviving COVID shutdowns, adapting safety measures, and now competing with other casinos and smartphone betting as the property plans its next chapter.
