Man, 60, Found Dead In Backyard Pool In Babylon: Police

A family member found the man unresponsive early Tuesday morning, police said.

BABYLON, NY — A 60-year-old man drowned in a backyard swimming pool in Babylon early Tuesday morning, Suffolk County police said.

A family member called 911 after finding David Astarita unresponsive in an above-ground pool in the backyard of his Bacon Lane home at about 6:40 a.m., police said.

Astarita was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death. Police said detectives believe the drowning was non-criminal in nature.
