Join Dr. Michael Norris of Armchair Art Tours for a program as part of Putnam County's REV250 Commemoration!
The greatest and most influential painter in Colonial America, John Singleton Copley (1738-1815) showed artistic promise as a teenager, but was mostly self-taught. He prospered as an artist by creating hundreds of portraits that were both striking in their precise realism and in the importance of some of their sitters, such as Paul Revere, John Hancock, and Samuel Adams. However, rising political turmoil in Colonial America, along with Copley’s dissatisfaction with the limited art scene there, brought him to London in 1774, where he created portraits while also producing large, realistic, and dramatic scenes of contemporary history, often accompanied by prints to offer to a mass market.
This program is for adults, and will be presented on Zoom. Registration is required in order to receive the Zoom link prior to the program.

Putnam County's REV250 Commemoration Presents Cynthia Abbott Kauffman as "Anne Fisher Miller"!
Imagine the Battle of White Plains unfolding just outside your door while your husband and two sons are away at war. In this immersive first-person presentation, Anne Fisher Miller recounts her encounters with General George Washington, how her home was transformed into a field hospital and church, and the dangers posed by the notorious “cow-boys and skinners” who roamed the contested Neutral Ground of present-day Westchester County. Dressed in period attire, Anne also shares and demonstrates the everyday essentials used by soldiers and camp followers during the Revolutionary War.
This exciting program is for all ages, but recommended for adults and children who are interested in American Revolution history. &nbsp;Registration is required. Please register each person attending individually.&nbsp;

A Putnam County REV250 Commemoration Event!&nbsp;
Michael Baker will reenact the short life of Dr. and Major General Joseph Warren, who was instrumental in the start of the American Revolution. He may have been our first President, had he not been shot and killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill. Come hear how he led the Patriots’ battle in Boston, and helped spread the spirit of Revolution throughout the Colonies. He set Paul Revere on his ride and inspired the Founding Fathers in Boston and throughout the Colonies which resulted in the Declaration of Independence that he did not live to see.
This presentation is appropriate for all Teens and Adults interested in the American Revolution. Registration is required.

Storyteller Carla Lynne Hall performs an updated narrative of Mother 
Hulda of Bohemia, a woman who- as legend has it- lived in Sleepy Hollow 
during the 1770's. In Edgar Mayhew Bacon's 1897 book Chronicles of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow, he
 mentioned the woman whose basket weaving and healing abilities led to 
her being shunned as a witch, while her skills as a sharpshooter made 
her a Revolutionary War hero.&nbsp;
Recommended for ages 10 and up. Registration is required. Please register separately for each person attending
