This 4-week series meets on Thursdays April 23, 30, May 7 and 14 from 7-9 pm.The skills to tell a great story can elevate the impact of a professional presentation, make our talk the one everyone remembers, make a wedding toast truly memorable, take a personal tribute to an emotional high note. Through a well-told story, information and facts flow, and listeners are carried along with fascination and feeling.Learning to craft an authentic experience into a story meant to be told out loud is empowering, useful, and most importantly - fun! This class blends improv techniques - for tapping spontaneity, looking at events through different perspectives, and creative confidence-building - with exercises for looking at our life experiences through a storytelling lens, and techniques that transform an experience into a compelling story to be told out loud.In this class series, we will: Use "story mining" exercises to help discover the story in our life experiences Learn the 5-beat story structure and apply it&nbsp; Practice techniques that fully engage a listener and make a story truly memorable Discuss how to use story to make presentations and professional talks more powerful, meaningful and memorable Share at least 2 drafts of the story with the class Discuss how to pitch stories to shows and podcasts
INSTRUCTOR: <a href="https://www.judetrederwolff.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Jude Treder-Wolff, </a>a creative arts therapist, storyteller, improviser, improv and storytelling teacher. She is host and creator of <a href="https://www.mostlytruethings.com" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">(mostly) TRUE THINGS</a>, a Long Island-based storytelling show performed in Port Jefferson every month since 2014, which has also been featured at the Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center, The Patchogue Theater, The Peoples Improv Theater and The Tank in NYC, and the Dolphin Bookshop in Port Washington, NY. A Moth slam winner, she performs in storytelling shows in the northeast and around the country, including The Armenian Power House and New Tricks at Q.E.D. in Astoria, The Story Collider and Funny Over 50 at Caveat in NYC and Generation Women at Joe's Pub. She won the All-Star slam at Ex Fabula in Milwaukee, WI, was featured on Story District in Washington, D.C. and on the RISK! live show and podcast many times. The Junior Training Program at Centereach Park, presented by Redefine Meal Prep, aims to teach players the game of beach doubles and encourage athletes to compete in weekend tournaments. This&nbsp;two-night program has two&nbsp;parts:&nbsp;training sessions every Monday night with&nbsp;East End&nbsp;Vertical coaches starting the first week of&nbsp;June, and&nbsp;organized league play on Wednesday nights with East End&nbsp;Vertical coaches present to offer live feedback to help athletes improve.
Teach&nbsp;junior athletes, boys &amp; girls 18 &amp; under, to reach a skill level that allows them to play doubles beach volleyball. The goal is to encourage athletes to compete&nbsp;in weekend doubles tournaments and possibly an opportunity to play beach volleyball in college.
Think of this 2-part program as:
<ul><li>Monday is for coaching.</li><li>Wednesday is for playing with feedback.</li></ul>
Athletes will train 2 days per week before the June 17&nbsp;start of league play. After the league starts, athletes will then train&nbsp;every Monday, and play in the league every Wednesday,&nbsp;which allows them to put into practice what they learned at that week’s&nbsp;training session.&nbsp;
If you have a partner for the doubles league, please email Richard Heiles, eevb@optonline.net, with your partner's information. Each partner will need to sign up for the League before being paired. Single players will be matched up for the doubles league based on skill level.&nbsp;&nbsp;We expect this program to develop into the top producer of beach volleyball doubles players in Suffolk, feeding players into EEVB’s summer junior tournament schedule.
Ages: 11-18&nbsp;
Player Level:&nbsp;We expect a wide range of skills in this program from novice to intermediate.&nbsp;Athletes will be grouped during training sessions based on skill level rather than age. Athletes who are not quite ready for doubles league play will receive additional training on Wednesdays until they are ready for league play.
Head Coach:&nbsp;Matt Toner will lead this new program. Matt, a certified USA Volleyball coach, was Assistant Head Coach at Adelphi University for 11 years. He also coached at the LI Big Apple Volleyball Club and helped found Dawn Patrol, which was combined with EEVB Junior Program to form East End Vertical in 2022.&nbsp;The 42-year-old coach has played doubles for 30 years in EEVB tournaments including early tournaments with his father in adult divisions. Our favorite strength exhibited by Coach Toner, in addition to his years of playing and coaching experience, is his ability to communicate with athletes and get them to understand his&nbsp;coaching, helping them become the best players possible.

Based in the East End of Long Island, EEVB grew into the largest beach volleyball program in the East End of the country, with tournaments, leagues, and clinics for over 5,000 players. The Picklr 3-day Junior Summer Sessions will be offered four times this summer with each session running from 9 am-Noon. Session #1: June 30-July 2 Session #2: July 14-16 Session #3: August 11-13 Session #4: August 25-27 Each session will cover game fundamentals, skill development, and conclude with engaging gameplay with prizes. Registration for Junior members is $149 per week or $199 for non-junior members.
