• Texas Man Sentenced to 4 Years for Defrauding Hurricane Sandy Victims (townhall.com) — A former Freeport-based contractor has been sentenced to four years in federal prison for defrauding more than 20 Hurricane Sandy victims, many on Long Island, through his company Design Concepts Group in Freeport. Prosecutors say he took about $2.5 million in recovery funds meant to elevate damaged homes, instead spending heavily on luxury cars and land while projects went unfinished.
