• Great Neck Park District reopens Memorial Field after major athletic improvements (longislandpress.com) — Memorial Field in the Great Neck Park District is open again after a major renovation that upgraded the turf, baseball backstops, dugouts, and irrigation system for safer, higher-quality play. Local officials joined residents and youth soccer players at a ribbon-cutting on September 19, celebrating the return of games, practices, and community activities to this key neighborhood athletic hub.
   

• Remains found by high school track team in Manhasset may be missing Great Neck grandmother (greaterlongisland.com) — Police believe skeletal remains found by student runners in Manhasset's Plandome Pond Park may belong to 79-year-old Shi Hua Xu, the Great Neck grandmother with dementia missing since December 2025. The site is about four miles from where she was last seen, and her family has tentatively identified clothing from the scene while awaiting DNA confirmation. The discovery could finally bring closure to relatives and neighbors who searched extensively across Great Neck.
