• ScieGen Pharmaceuticals Inc. plans 60,000-square-foot plant in Hauppauge (newsday.com) — A Hauppauge drug manufacturer plans a new 60,000-square-foot factory and warehouse on Motor Parkway that could eventually employ up to 200 people, adding to its existing local facilities and more than 1,100 Suffolk workers. The company aims to open by 2028-29 and will likely seek Suffolk and New York State tax breaks, continuing Hauppauge's role as a key pharmaceutical and vitamin manufacturing hub.

• Long Island street takeovers: Social media turbocharges age-old rebellion (newsday.com) — Hauppauge has seen large street takeovers this summer involving more than 200 ATVs, dirt bikes and motorcycles, part of a wider Long Island trend fueled by social media. Police task forces, longtime car enthusiasts and sociologists describe how these meetups have grown from small races into disruptive, sometimes dangerous spectacles drawing big crowds and online audiences.
