Huntington To Host Free Senior Scam Prevention Seminar With DA’s Office
A May 7 event at Cinema Arts Centre will focus on protecting seniors from common scams, officials say.
HUNTINGTON, NY — The Town of Huntington, in partnership with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, will host a free seminar this week aimed at helping residents recognize and avoid scams that often target older adults.
The event, organized by Councilwoman Theresa Mari in collaboration with Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney, is scheduled for Thursday at the Cinema Arts Centre.
“Protecting our seniors is a top priority, as they are often the primary targets for predatory scammers looking to exploit their trust,” Mari said. “By partnering with the District Attorney’s office, we are providing our residents with the knowledge and confidence they need to spot a red flag before any harm is done.”

Officials said the seminar will provide practical guidance on identifying fraudulent schemes and protecting personal information and finances.
Attendees will learn about some of the most common scams targeting seniors, including home improvement fraud, romance scams and the so-called “grandparent scam,” in which criminals impersonate relatives in distress to solicit money.
