• Toys of Hope provides toys for those who would not otherwise (longislandpress.com) — A Huntington-based nonprofit, Toys of Hope, is seeking local volunteers and donations to support more than 65,000 children, families and pets each year across Long Island. Operating from a warehouse on East 2nd Street in Huntington Station, the all-volunteer group runs programs from holiday sponsorships to dental education and pet food support, with donations accepted by appointment and online.
   

• 2 Arrested at Carousel Night Club (huntingtonnow.com) — Two employees were arrested during a late-night inspection at The Carousel Night Club on East Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station, where police say an unlicensed security guard was working. Town of Huntington fire marshals and code enforcement also issued 11 building, fire and code violations, and the men are due in First District Court in Central Islip on Sept. 17.
   

• Long Island's Jack Kennedy falls in first round of U.S. Open (newsday.com) — Huntington native Jack Kennedy, 18, saw his dream U.S. Open debut end in a straight-sets loss to South Africa's Lloyd Harris in Flushing, but drew loud support from family and friends. Kennedy, who earned a wild card by winning the USTA Boys' 18s title, will stay in New York to compete in junior singles and defend his junior doubles crown.
