It's Now About a Sign Law From 1989 (theautowire.com) — Long Beach's decades-old sign ordinance is now at the center of a federal civil-rights case over political flags on vehicles, with both the city and resident Michael Wasserman asking a judge for summary judgment. After the City Council's $50,000 settlement offer was rejected, the dispute could now produce a written ruling that may reshape how Long Beach regulates signs and flags on cars.
   

• Long Island community plans to be first in NY to make 9/11 a holiday — but there's a catch (amedpost.com) — Long Beach officials are moving to make Sept. 11 an official paid holiday for city workers, while local schools would still remain open under separate Board of Education authority. City leaders must now negotiate details with unions and work through legal and contractual nuances before the change can take effect, leaving the exact timing of any new holiday still uncertain.

Holy Trinity football transfers making an impact elsewhere (newsday.com) — A former Holy Trinity football standout is now starring for Long Beach, hauling in nine catches for 136 yards and two touchdowns against powerhouse Carey while also starting at linebacker. The story follows several ex-Titans who quickly became key contributors at schools across Long Island and beyond after Holy Trinity abruptly suspended its football program.
