Man In 'Agitated State' Dies After Being Taken Into Custody Following Disturbance At Motel: NYSP

MONTGOMERY, NY — State Police are investigating a man's death following a disturbance at a Hudson Valley Motel.

Late last night, at approximately 11:29 p.m., New York State Police responded to the Super 8 Motel on Montgomery Road in Montgomery after a report about a disturbance involving a 36-year-old man.

At the scene, troopers went to a room where they encountered the man in "an agitated state." The man was taken into custody and initially remained conscious, but due to his condition, EMS were requested, according to NYSP.

The man became unresponsive and was taken by ambulance to Garnet Health Medical Center. While at Garnet Health Medical Center, the man went into cardiac arrest and was pronounced daed at approximately 4:19 a.m. on Tuesday.

The identity of the man is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, according to NYSP.

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Major Crimes Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. The New York State Attorney General’s Office has also been notified.
