NYC Recovers Millions From Amazon Truck Violations
City officials say a targeted review of Amazon delivery vehicles led to recovery of millions in unpaid idling violations.
NEW YORK, NY— The city recovered more than $9 million in unpaid fines from Amazon.com, Inc. tied to delivery vehicle idling violations, according to city officials.
“Amazon is worth $2 trillion," Mayor Zohran Mamdani said. "Yet, it did not deign to pay the millions of dollars it racked up in unpaid fines as its’ trucks illegally polluted our air and forced New Yorkers to breathe in their exhaust. We are going to collect every dollar they owe the people of this city."
City officials said the enforcement effort began earlier this year after the Department of Finance Collections Unit targeted unpaid summonses tied to vehicles operating in Amazon’s delivery network.
