• Vice President Henry Wilson & The Civil War (yonkerstimes.com) — Peekskill history buffs can catch a special program on Vice President Henry Wilson and the Civil War at the Lincoln Depot Museum this Saturday, October 3, at 2 p.m. For $10, or free for museum members, attendees will hear historian and podcaster Lincoln Anniballi explore Wilson's remarkable rise from indentured servant to abolitionist leader and national figure.

• Somers football pounds Peekskill in home opener (halstonmedia.com) — Peekskill High's football team traveled to Somers on Sept. 25 but struggled in a lopsided 41–0 loss, managing only a few first downs.
